Gould Fiber Optics, part of the G&H Group and a leading manufacturer of passive fiber optic products, recently celebrated its 30th year as a leader in the research, development and manufacturing of highly reliable fiber optic components and integrated assembly solutions. We have served numerous industries including government, military, aerospace, sensors, medical and telecommunications, to name a few.
Gould established its place at the forefront of the fiber optics component manufacturing industry by developing the fused biconical taper (FBT) process in 1978. Gould became the first to launch a low loss, polarization insensitive, FBT single mode splitter/coupler in 1981, with commercial production beginning in 1983.
Over the last thirty years, both Gould and G&H have evolved into a global industry leaders, responsible for pioneering new fiber optic products and manufacturing methods. In September 2018, their strengths were combined when Gould Fiber Optics became part of the G&H Group. A pioneering approach to new fiber product development combined with an excellence in engineering have complemented comparable design and manufacturing capabilities at the Group’s fiber optic facilities in Bedford, MA, USA and Torquay, Devon, UK.
Both G&H and Gould Fiber Optics has been awarded many patents on the design, build and packaging of various optical fibers and integrated fiber optics based components with high optical specifications and harsh environmental operating conditions. Chief among those would be Gould’s highly acclaimed GlasSolderTM manufacturing process, a specialized bonding technique that has created remarkable advancements in field reliability and athermal packaging.
