Gould’s Single Mode (SM) fiber optic couplers & optical splitters are manufactured using the fused biconical taper process on fully software controlled automatic fabrication stations. The process consists of placing two or more fibers adjacent to each other, then fusing and stretching them to create a central coupling region. A fused coupler is a structure formed by two independent optical fibers. Please visit our Fused Biconical Taper (FBT) page for more information.
In addition to our standard single mode single wavelength couplers, Gould has launched a new line of 1×2 and 2×2 single mode splitters based on Pure silica fibers with operating wavelengths covering 400 to 680 nm.
Gould Technology’s high reliability, high grade and superior performance PLC (Planar Lighwave Circuits) based Planar waveguide Optical Signal splitters are manufactured fully in-house in a clean room environment at our Millersville, Maryland facility, through an Ion-Exchange-based process providing superior dependability and great performance
